Reginapolis

I found this amazing work of art at Design*Sponge the other day - its a map of New York City using Regina Spektor's lyrics! I say work of art, because I am a huge fan of Regina and was so excited to see that fellow fan Francesca Pasini used her creative genius to put this into existence.

Isn't it great? Available here for $43.

Leftover Cuties

Kind of obsessed with their "Places to Go" track and the beautiful styling (by Faye at You Are The River) of their music video, "Game Called Life."

They also have a cover of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" is pretty awesome, too. Check it out!

Dear Keri Russell,

Usually I am not a fan of celebrity homes - I'm just not that all impressed with Jennifer Aniston's zen retreat or Kimora Lee Simmons' leopard filled dressing room (unless you are Jenna Lyons, Kate Spade, or, surprisingly, Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe). Maybe its because Jenn and Kim don't have design that's accessible for me - their expensive tastes isn't really something I can take a lot from.

... And then there's Keri Russell's home, pictured in June's Elle Decor. She shops at a lot of places I shop at - places that are (or will be someday) in my budget. And her husband has made a lot of the pieces in her home. Her walls aren't gilded. There's not a three ton fish tank. Or custom stone carved walls. Its beautiful and easy-going. And I want to live there!

A Southern Romance

“she walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
and all that’s best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes;
thus mellowed to that tender light
which heaven to gaudy day denies”
- Lord Byron

“love at the lips was touch as sweet as I could bear;
and once that seemed too much; I lived on air
that crossed me from sweet things
the scent of…was it musk
from hidden grapevine springs
down hill at dusk”
- Robert Frost

“here is the deepest secret nobody knows
it is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)”
- E.E. Cummings

I know this post is a little picture overload - but I am in love with every single one of the shots in this season's Ruche Early Summer lookbook! And was memorized by all the romantic poems slipped in between. These were shot by my amazing wedding photographer, Stephanie Williams. She was amazing to work with and I have loved following her career as she's done some non-wedding projects, like this lookbook. These photos were shot in South Carolina - don't they remind you of the Notebook (I know I wasn't the only one who had a major crush on Noah and Allie, aka Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams)? Its just so romantic! And now I can't wait to go to Charleston next week.

Boo, Blogger!

By the way, I'm really bummed my post from Thursday was deleted due to some blogger malfunctions. Hopefully it will reappear soon. In the meantime, please enjoy this awesome (and DC appropriate) photo I found over at Milk. May you greet the weekend with the same "kind of unbridled enthusiasm." Cheers!

Chunky Knits

I come from a family of knitters and have modeled/worn/knitted many a chunky knit. Nothing as extravagant as this work of art (which I would gladly throw out my snuggie for)(just kidding, I don't really own a snuggie, but if I did...), but much more than the average 23 year old. Last summer I came across the beautiful work of Christien Meinderstma:

She makes these amazing urchin poufs that, for lack of better words, I die for. Unfortunately, they are very much outside of my budget. So I can't help wondering... how does one get into the business of creating such beautiful, chunky knits? Surely, knitting needles aren't sold that large. And then I saw this DIY youtube video:

PVC tubes, here I come!
